Summary

The wood shop at Port City Makerspace has everything that an aspiring wood worker could hope for, and many old friends of the seasoned carpenter. Shop tools include a professional grade table saw, bandsaw, compound miter saw, a 15″ planer, a 8″ x 75″ jointer, drum sanders, and a full complement of hand tools. There is truly too much to list. It’s best to come by the shop and see for yourself!

Shop Rules

This is a list of rules regarding this particular space. No rule in here is to be an exception to the Code of Conduct, but an addition to it.

  1. If you're not sure what you're doing, either talk to someone or google it. ESPECIALLY with the table saw.
  2. DO NOT USE any power tool you have not gotten checked out on. DO NOT assume you know how to safely use something you've barely used.
  3. Do not do any of the following to or on the power tools:
    1. Leave things on them
    2. Hammer or work on them
    3. Get glue on them
    4. Get water on them
    5. Push them to their limits. We don't have a "Tool Replacement Budget", so don't break our only tools.
    6. Break something and then not tell anybody. If the next person that walks up to it doesn't know its broken, it can cause them to get hurt when they try to use it. Leave a note, tell the manager
